Moves to Paris, makes acquaintances with the surrealist group, including that of Man Ray. Little by little he abandons painting for engraving. |

Studies applied arts. Held his first own exhibition at the Louis Gattiaux gallery. He publishes in collaboration with Camille Bryen a collection of poems and photographs. Raoul Ubac participates in the demonstrations of the surrealist group until 1940. |

Start of the series of photos Struggle of Penthesilea. He learns engraving at the workshop of Stanley Hayter, british painter in the Ecole de Paris who is trying to revive this technique. |
