Camille BRYEN - Detailed biography

Camille Bryen was born in Nantes in 1907. He settles in Paris in 1926 and publishes his first poem collection “Opopanax”. In 1932 was published “Experiences”, which groups together poems, drawings and collage. He signs the “dimensionist” manifest in 1936 with Arp, Duchamp and Picabia and is considered at that time as a post-dada poet. He then collaborates with the painter Raoul Ubac. He organises in 1948 the first “Lyrical Abstraction” exhibition. At the same time, he learns etching methods and works on oil paintings. He died in 1977 in Paris.
